The bright future ahead.

This august I am heading to KY to continue my journey in Sign Language. I really enjoyed my year at Fairmont State, I met a ton of wonderful people! Ruby is a great teacher with a lot of perspective and an interesting window into the world of the Deaf. It was a great experience to sit under her and learn from her. The different challenges that I faced with learning a new language and learning about a different culture and trying to understand each new point of view was a challenge but it is one of my favorite things to do. As I went through the year, meeting Deaf people, reading material on their culture, visiting Deaf schools, watching plays completely in sign language, learning what it felt like to be in a situation where I didn't understand everything that was going on was at times frustrating but it was always interesting. I feel like my dream is slowly unfolding as I begin to learn the skills needed to speak with people who have a language that is different than mine and to try to understand their culture is amazing! I am extremely grateful that Ruby helped me begin my journey. :) This new phase that I am beginning in KY is just a continuation of what I began at Fairmont State. I am eager to see what KY has to offer. I can't wait to discover the cultural differences that are found in another state. This is the beginning. I can't wait to see what my future holds and what God has planned for me. From sign language who knows, I hope to branch out to other languages and cultures as well. Spanish, German, Italian and so many others. There are so many different people and cultures out there to explore! My hope is to be able to get a picture of as many as I can. Everyone, no matter what language they speak (or sign) has something special to offer the world and I'm excited to be able to learn their points of view!

fingerspelling written part

My Dream Vacation

1.My dream vacation would be to go to Ireland. I would fly from Pittsburgh, PA to Dublin, Ireland. My flight would be early! I think the number of the airport is 1-800-523-6785.

2.I would like to go August 19, 2011, I think the weather would be nice then.

3.My family would probably go as well, my dad (Doug), my mom (Ettica), and my brothers Benjamin and Michael.

4.I will need to go to the bank to save money for my trip, I would try to take $1,000. I need a better job!

5.I would probably spend around $300 on toys for my cousins.

6.I think that all I would be able to say when I visited Ireland is Wow! And Yes, I’m finally here! Allright!

7.My family would be busy for all of the trip because of everything to do!

8.My family would probably take around $500 each.

9.We would probably stay in Ireland for 2 weeks and then come back to the United States.

10.I think I will start saving money May 27, 2009, I would try to put away $40-50 each paycheck into a savings account.

I don't really know what i'm going to say

i feel horrible for my poor little blog. it is so totally abandoned that it just isn't even funny... :( i'm sorry poor blog. anyway...... so Ruby decided to do an ASL idol... which is just awesome... however being one of the contestants was NOT fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol i mean i have always wanted to sign songs but i've never really worked on it at all lol sooooo i signed True Beauty by Mandisa. tis a really good song, however i totally butchered it lol..... Ruby's biggest thing was facial expression. which apparently i am learning i have a lot of different expressions. my friend Gary was talking and said that my face was so animated and my brandon (my boyfriend) agreed and said it was like watching a cartoon... :/ anyway for some reason putting that facial expression into ASL is like insane...................... i don't know why i have such an issue with it... its really sad. but i know what i have to work on lol......
